Ubisoft has reportedly greenlit the development of a new Splinter Cell game. If the rumours prove true, it will be the first main entry in the Splinter Cell universe since 2013’s Blacklist.
A report from VGC claims multiple “development sources” have revealed that a new Splinter Cell is in an early phase of production. The project has been greenlit to appease the frustrated fanbase waiting for a game since 2013.
Unfortunately, no further details were released in the report; aside from that Ubisoft Montreal Studio will not be developing the game.
Since Blacklist, Sam Fisher, the protagonist of the series, has appeared in multiple other games such as Ghost Recon Wildlands, Breakpoint, Rainbow Six Siege, but never was at the centre of the attention. In 2020 a new Splinter Cell game was announced, but it is a VR game for Oculus VR.
Should the rumours prove accurate, fans will be able to enjoy Sam Fisher’s adventures once again.
